Job Summary
The Executive Chef will oversee all kitchen operations, from planning and preparing baked goods and hearty meals to managing inventory and kitchen staff. This role is hands-on and ideal for a chef who enjoys wearing multiple hats—baking, cooking, menu planning, and leading a small team with a shared love for comfort food.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute daily and weekly menus for baked goods, hot meals, and take-out items
- Oversee production of scratch-made items including pies, pastries, soups, casseroles, meals, seasonal dishes, and cheesecakes
- Lead, schedule, and support a small team of cooks and prep staff
- Ensure food quality, portion control, and consistency across all offerings
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness and organization, adhering to health and safety standards
- Manage ordering and inventory to minimize waste and ensure fresh, timely ingredients
- Collaborate with ownership on seasonal offerings, customer feedback, and special events
- Occasionally assist with front-of-house operations during peak periods
Qualifications
- 3-5+ years of professional kitchen experience; baking experience strongly preferred
- Proven leadership experience in a kitchen or small food service setting
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Passion for home-style cooking, baked goods, and high-quality ingredients
- Reliable, self-motivated, and comfortable in a fast-paced, small-team environment
- Food Handler or SERV Safe Certification (or willingness to obtain)
